Five Things to Avoid While Trying to Lose Weight

By Mary Mason-Shields Do you know the things you should avoid when you are trying to lose weight? As your weight escalated up, you were probably eating all of the wrong foods. Foods that were a far cry from nutritious and totally unhealthy. Do you know that exercise is a major component to any weight loss program? Knowing that losing weight is a difficult feat, there are several things to avoid in order making your weight loss much easier to achieve. Five things to avoid are: NEVER rush into a diet because you are desperate to lose those unwanted pounds. Always take your time when deciding on a weight loss plan. Do not choose a diet plan that will be difficult for you to maintain. You must decide on a weight loss plan that you will have the stamina to complete. For this reason, the media should not be consulted for your weight loss program. NEVER skip meals thinking this would put you closer to your weight loss goal faster. There is no quick way to lose weight. You have to commit to a healthy diet plan for the long haul however long it takes. NEVER restrict yourself from having your favorite foods. If you cut down on consuming those favorite foods, maybe just using those favorite foods as a bonus for reaching a measurable weight loss goal, you will have more determination to continue your program. You should never break away completely from your favorite foods. You will need something to keep your momentum, willpower and determination up. NEVER start a diet plan without research. You must educate yourself on every aspect of the diet you plan to undertake. You must be cognizant of your health condition. If you have any underlying health issues, you must address those issues in your weight loss program. Your program must be healthy in all aspects. NEVER set unrealistic weight loss goals. Think about how long it took for you to gain the weight you are now trying to lose. You will not be able to lose it any faster than you gained it. As a matter of fact, you should not want to. Now that you have the knowledge of some of the things you should avoid when trying to lose weight, it is up to you to move on the knowledge you have just attained. You can do this. You can create a healthy, nutritious weight loss program. Good luck! Mary Mason-Shields encourages this form of weight loss motivation to help you unload those unwanted pounds and help you find that little person you lost. This will also help you begin a healthy and nutritious diet plan. http://www.marymshields.usana.com, http://www.maryreset.blogspot.com, http://www.divinity-mary.blogspot.com Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Mary_Mason-Shields http://EzineArticles.com/?Five-Things-to-Avoid-While-Trying-to-Lose-Weight&id=519930 unsecurred loans help to eliminate pay day loan debt payday loans victoria bc fake paycheck stubs

Bird Feeders

By Ross Bainbridge A bird feeder has to be sturdy to withstand all types of weather. It also has to be well sealed in order to keep the food inside dry. It should be big enough so that you dont have to constantly refill it, and it should be easy to clean. Wooden feeders have a certain charm to them, but practicality dictates that the best bird feeders are made of plastic or metal. There are three different types of bird feeders tray, hopper and tube. They each attract different bird species. The screen tray birdfeeder is made of steel mesh and can hold different types of seeds or nuts depending on the birds you want to feed. Tray feeders are hung from trees and also attract squirrels. The most popular fillers for tray feeders are peanuts, raisins, mealworms, black oil or sunflower seeds. The hopper bird feeder is box shaped and dispenses seeds automatically. It has a roof to help keep seeds dry. It attracts a wide variety of backyard birds including doves, blue jays, blackbirds and cardinals. Hoppers can hold a lot of seeds and because they are automatically dispensed, they do not spoil. Tube feeders are long cylinders that have perches at the feeding ports. They can be purchased as upside-down models or seed tray models. They usually attract small woodland birds like chickadees, titmice, woodpeckers, nuthatches and finches. Because the perches are small, they discourage larger birds including cardinals, blue jays, grackles, blackbirds and doves. You can use sunflower seeds or tiny thistle and Niger seeds, but you must make sure that there is no dead space at the bottom of the feeder to prevent rotten or moldy seeds. Prescription Diet Pills

By Thomas Morva Those who plan to use diet pills need a doctors prescription before they can purchase these weight loss drugs. Due to their perceived side effects, doctors need to thoroughly examine the patient prior to issuance of these prescription diet pills. These types of diet pills or drugs are closely-regulated by the Food and Drug Administration in the United States. Examples of these drugs that need a doctors prescription are Orilistat, Phentermine and Meridian. Prescription diet pills are normally subjected to a battery of clinical tests to prove their safety and efficacy as well as to find out its potential health hazards and side effects. An example of the newly developed prescription diet pill is Xenical, which works in the intestinal tract. This drug is designed to decrease the bodys absorption of fat by as much as 30% during digestion. Studies show that those who use this prescription diet pill for a year can lose close to ten percent of their initial weight. However, a common side effect of this drug is diarrhea since fat cannot be digested by the body. It is important to follow a low fat diet while taking this prescription pill. Aside from blocking fat, these drugs also block the absorption of essential vitamins that are fat soluble. As such, those taking this type of diet pill will lack essential vitamins such as A, D, E, K and beta-carotene. Dieters should be advised to take vitamin supplements to address this problem. On the other hand, non-prescription diet pills or diet supplements may either be purchased online or over the counter. Since these pills require minimal approval from the FDA, they are often referred as weight loss supplements. Before you go to the nearest drug store to purchase prescription diet pills, be sure to bring the doctors prescription. Otherwise, you may opt to buy non-prescription drugs, commonly known as weight loss supplements. Questions to Ask on A First Date – 3 Questions to Start and Continue the Conversation

By Ladi Lashkari Your first date could be the door to a happy and lasting relationship, or just the end of a relationship before it even begins. That’s why finding good questions to ask on a first date is very important. Since you and your date don’t know much about each other, it could be a challenge to keep the conversation flowing throughout your date. But if you prepare some fun questions to ask in advance, it will be easy to avoid the awkward pauses. Here are 3 fun and relaxing first date questions to ask your date… Question #1: “How was your day?” This is one of the best questions to ask at the beginning of your date, because it works as a great conversation starter. Also by giving him/her the chance to talk about about him/herself and by putting the focus on him/her, you show your politeness and manners which will really make a good first impression on your date. Also this gives you the opportunity to learn more about them based on what they did today and also HOW they talk about it. For example if they keep complaining about how many bad things that happened today, you’ll know they are most probably pessimistic and don’t lead a happy life. But if they talk about what a beautiful day it was and how much fun they had today, THAT would really make a difference. Question #2: “What do you do for fun in your spare time?” This is a great questions to ask to find out how much you have in common when it comes to your hobbies. Also if your date tells you he/she is interested in a sport or activity that you like very much too, it will be the beginning of an exciting and fun conversation. You both can talk about why you love this hobby and how long you have been doing it. Also the answers your date gives to this question will tell you a lot about his/her personality. For example if your date says he/she loves reading so much that always spends the weekends reading books, but you’re a very energetic person and love active outdoor activities, it will clearly show you’re not very compatible in this part and will probably have a hard time finding fun things to do together in your possible future relationship. What’s more, this question acts as a smart way to find out if your date is a workaholic. If you see he/she is having a hard time finding an answer to this question, or if the answers he/she gives are all about his business, this will tell you this person might be one of those people who shapes all his/her life around his work. Question #3: “Do you have any pets?” This question is very good because it starts a lively conversation. People love talking about their pets because they love them very much. This lively and relaxing conversation will help you two feel more relaxed and comfortable with each other, so that you’ll have a more fun time during the rest of the date. But what if your date says he/she doesn’t have a pet? Well, then simply ask “Really? Why not?” And again it will start a good conversation. *Final Thoughts The questions you ask in your date are important, but there’s a general rule that is even more important, but actually few people do it: Put the focus and attention on your date, and ask a lot of questions about THEM. Be curious about him/her. And be a good listener. Be genuinely interested and listen. The more questions you ask about THEM, the more scores you’ll gain. When you do this, congratulations! Because now you are unique and stand above 90% of other men and women who date. Here you can learn 3 important first date conversation tips to help you have a more fun and successful date. 10 Quick Tips to Keep Your Orchids Looking Gorgeous

By McClaren Jackson Caring for your orchids can be a very fulfilling experience if you know what youre doing. The problem is that many do not know the secrets to producing and maintaining beautiful blooming orchids. Contrary to popular belief, getting great results with orchids does not require the intelligence of a rocket scientist. Here are 10 tips on improving your orchids that you can implement straight away: Tip #1 Watering Your Orchids: Dont give your orchids too much water. If there is any point at which your pot is waterlogged, you orchids will not be happy. Some species like the Vanda and the Phalaenopsis orchids should actually be left to dry before you water them again. In general, wait for anywhere from 5 days to 2 weeks before watering your orchids again. Let the time of year help you decide, for example: In the summer your watering should be a little more frequent than in the months with less light. Tip #2 Keep an eye on your window orchids: If you have your orchids sitting on your windowsill it is probably because you know that they need sufficient light. That is true, but be careful when the sun is out that you do not leave your orchids in the window for too long otherwise dark spots will develop on the leaves. If the green leaves are fading, move your plant from the window before it is too late. Tip #3 Cymbidiums: Such a popular species because they stay in bloom for long periods which is very satisfying. You should move your cymbidium orchid outdoors during the summer months but be sure to keep them from getting direct sunlight and keep track of the amount of water they are gettingthat is, if you are watering them, make sure that they are not getting an extra watering from rainfalls. That being said, Cymbidiums love water, especially when they are blooming so this a species to keep moist at all timesbut still not waterlogged (see tip #1). Tip #4 Choose Your Orchids Carefully: If you know that your home has low lighting, then here are some species you should be growing indoors: Paphiopedilum (Slipper Orchids), Phalaenopsis (moth orchids) and Ludisia and other jewel orchids. Tip #5 Paphiopedilum Slipper Orchids: Arguably one of the most exotic species readily available. Again, keep these moist, watering them at the break of day with warm tap water. Make sure that the soil never becomes dry. For best results, keep these plants in a shaded area of a bright room away from the direct sunlight. Tip #6 If Your Orchids Are Not Blooming: If your plant appears to be healthy but there is not a flower in sight, the most common reason for this is that they are not getting enough light. Now please do not take them from a dark basement to a direct sunlit window all of a sudden. Moving your orchid where it will receive more light should be done gradually to ensure that they handle the change properly. Tip #7 Dont tamper with your orchids too soon: When orchid lovers begin to see their orchids blooming, one of the common mistakes made is to try to get another plant out of itthat is, in their glee they try to divide to orchid. Please do not do this too early in the orchids life. Allow it to grow to full size before you divide it. Tip #8 How Do I Speed Up the Blooming Process? If you can control the temperature where your indoor orchids are, you will be able to stimulate their growth. Make sure to drop the temperature by 10 at night and take it back up during the day. Tip #9 Keep your Orchid Away from Tobacco Smoke: Sometimes this may be the only reason why your orchid is not happyand by the way, this is not just a ploy to get you to stop smoking; there is an RNA virus called the Tobacco Mosaic Virus that will affect your orchids if you smoke around them. Tip #10 Getting Rid of Pests: Prevention is better than cure. If you are taking good care of your orchid, paying close attention to its specific needs for watering, lighting, temperature etc then you are halfway there. Also remember that debris like dead leaves also help to harbor pests so make sure that you keep the pot clean and free of dead leaves. If you already have a serious pest issue with your orchids you may have to use an insect spray but be careful to test it first on a tiny bit of the plant to make sure that it is not too strong/poisonous for your orchid. Separation of Church and State? Says Who?

By David Ben-Ariel Excerpts from fellowship about the real Jesus and the role of Christians in society today: If you understood that Yeshua is the I AM – He not only had the Canaanites destroyed for their pagan religious practices, He sent Israel and Judah into captivity for refusing to follow His biblical religion and as Yeshua drove out of “My Father’s House” the moneychangers with a whip in His hand! Certainly that was met with raised eyebrows and shaking of heads, not to mention FEAR! Yes, fear religion! And anybody who is a Christian who dares to deny that Christ will rule, as necessary with a ROD OF IRON, enforcing PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH, simply is either in denial or woefully ignorant of the biblical King of Kings and Lord of Lords who will soon reign on Earth from Jerusalem with TOUGH LOVE! You’re talking Old Testament. I’m talking the Law and the Prophets that Yeshua upheld and will enforce when He reigns perfectly from Jerusalem with TOUGH LOVE, giving different strokes for different folks. Notice that God hasn’t ordered the execution of anyone since Jesus walked the earth. Yes, He has, time and again through the Law and the Prophets that haven’t been made null and void by the tender mercies of our God, the Sermon on the Mount, except for those who are truly repentant as we can best determine with the help of God. Why do you think it is written about the ministers of State: “He bears not the SWORD in vain?” And that such ministers of state are to enforce the Law of God, serving as the vengeance of God? Romans 13 shows God has ordered the execution and other forms of punishment upon lawbreakers since Christ, since His Word remains true and hasn’t changed or been altered to accommodate fickle men and fleeting societies. Jesus never told us to establish any form of government on earth. He clearly taught that His kingdom was not of this earth. If He wanted a government here now, He would have made one here, now. We, as disciples, are not called to rule here or even govern here. Now you sound like the traditional Worldwide Church of God and those groups who have forsaken it in droves since the Great Apostasy after the death of Herbert W. Armstrong, concerning avoiding politics, shirking your responsibilities, your civic DUTIES, failing to render to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s, and by such woeful neglect and sinful negligence, have forfeited the reigns of government to the wicked and then cry about how awful things are! “All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.” I submit they’re not such good men or they would do something! Yeshua revealed HIS Kingdom of God-Beings, the ruling Kingdom-Family of God administering the Law of God, is yet future, that’s true, of which He will be the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. However, as the I AM, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, He has established an earthly kingdom called Israel and Judah today, our family of nations – the Anglo-Saxon and white peoples of Northwestern Europe with our Jewish brethren. And to us, which includes those called to be Christians now: “REMEMBER THE LAW OF MOSES MY SERVANT WITH THE STATUTES AND JUDGMENTS” (Malachi 4:4). God calls upon our Israelite family of nations to RESTORE HIS LAW AND ORDER, and we’ll receive blessing to the degree we love and obey and He will bless our NATIONAL EFFORTS that reflect national repentance, learning to go by God’s Word as LAW, trusting in His wisdom, rather than leaning to our own understanding with all our different political parties of men. We must recognize we are suffering national curses for national disobedience and repent and avert further national disasters (Daniel 9:11). God will draw near to us as we draw near to Him. God’s Kingdom on Earth has always been through the physical descendants of Jacob-Israel, and we’re to be a TYPE of the future Kingdom of God-Beings that will reign over us as we reign over other nations. We are called to be Christ on earth. To show others by our example, who He is. Would Jesus have advocated war? How about slaughter? Yes, we are called to reflect Christ on Earth, and our NATION is called to reflect GOD on Earth, as a “Light to all nations,” a MODEL NATION for others to follow, seeing our sound mindedness and wisdom, peace and prosperity from following God’s heavenly law here on Earth. Christ would certainly advocate war, if and whenever necessary, without hesitation, as revealed in the Law and the Prophets, the Law of Moses that our peoples and professing Christians have forgotten to our confusion and shame! Onward Christian Soldiers! This is where groups like the KKK confuse the heck out of me. They obviously don’t know Christ. If they did, they’d know that He’d never treat another human the way they do. I don’t know a single member of the KKK and from personal experience know how a group’s beliefs can be misrepresented by hysterical mobs. If the KKK is biblical on this or that, I support them on this or that. Where they’re not biblical, I would say so and not offer support but call upon them to change. The racist NAACP obviously doesn’t know Christ or they wouldn’t judge everything falsely by the color of someone’s skin rather than the content of character (while ignoring national issues that are biblically based on ethnicity), and they wouldn’t hold people down and under and back so they can keep their self-important positions they’ve prostituted themselves for at the expense of their own people whom they’ve sold down the river, listening to the siren calls of the race hucksters like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, both of whom should move to Africa and lead the way and create opportunities for others to follow. I would support them expressing such creativity in action instead of always cursing the real or imagined darkness rather than lighting a candle. So many people claim to be followers of Jesus, then turn right around and go against His teachings. Jesus taught us to turn the cheek, love our enemy, bring peace and love to the sick and hurting. Deliver others of demons and heal the sick. I see none of this in our government body and I see very, very little of this in the corporate church body. God’s one government has two branches. Jesus was talking to individuals (Sermon the Mount) and He was talking to the NATION (10 Commandments/Law of Moses) when He revealed how we are to live. So many people claim to be followers of Jesus, then turn right around and go against His teachings. He said to expel sworn enemies from our Land; to execute various criminals and cleanse the Land, to wage war, if and whenever necessary, and not to show the mercy of fools to nations or individuals who hate our guts and would slit our throats their first opportunity. We’re to love our neighbor as ourselves, not more than ourselves. Yeshua said to be “wise as serpents and innocent as doves.” He was referring to an ATTITUDE, a willingness to go the extra mile, out of our way, but not indefinitely! If we take all of Yeshua’s teaching on any given subject, rather than twist His teachings into some hippy pacifism, you’ll see there’s a time and a place, which is why He could act so violent and knock over tables and chairs and drive both men and animals from the Temple with a WHIP IN HIS HAND! Certainly doesn’t fit the traditional false image, does it? His harsh words against the religious leaders of His day certainly weren’t smooth and pleasant to listen to, especially if you were on the receiving end of His verbal attacks! And when He reigns, He will rule with a ROD OF IRON and rebuke some nations, punish others and even destroy some. Folks would do well to not try to tell the REAL JESUS about His teachings or to remember His Sermon on the Mount! Jesus will perfectly exercise the Law of Moses tempered by the Sermon on the Mount, as divine wisdom calls for, and we’re called to whatever extent we’re offered in this life to do the same, whether it’s in the home, office, pulpit or political position. That’s why our kings, our rulers, are commanded by God to read and study His Word daily that it may be the LAW OF THE LAND, and they can be humbled by realizing they’re merely human instruments of God’s grace, God’s rod and staff. David Ben-Ariel, a Christian-Zionist writer and author of Beyond Babylon: Europe’s Rise and Fall, shares a special focus on the Middle East, reflected in hard-hitting articles that help others improve their understanding of that troubled region. Ceramic and Pottery Defects 8: Defects Generated During Enameling Operations

By John T Jones, Ph.D. Color is what sales ceramics. Okay, I lied. Shape is more important. But color is very important and is used under-glaze, over-glaze and in-glaze. If the color sinks deep into the glaze on firing, the process is called in-glaze. Many manufacturers use pad printing or silk screening to apply colors and enamels to bisk or glazed ware. Stamping, bulbing, and hand painting are also used. Go to http://www.ceramicindustry.com/CDA/ArticleInformation/features/BNP__Features__Item/0,2710,8117,00.html for more information on specific decorating processes. Some stains are more reactive than others. Iron and manganese compounds tend to be so. Sometimes a frit is added to the stain to increase the reaction with the body or glaze. Stains may be encapsulated. This is true of cadmium colors, for example, that are tied up in zirconium silicates. This prevents leaching of the cadmium from food ceramics. Grinding can destroy the encapsulation. If the stain is made into a paint, as is the common method, it is called enamel. Stains can also be applied in powder form. With tile, a binder pattern is silk screened onto the ceramic. Then stain or colored frit in powder form is dusted onto the tile and shaken off. When the ceramic is fired, the binder pattern is reproduced in color. Hand painting is another method for applying color. It can be automated. Remember that bond signers on Wall Street in New York sign fifty or more bonds at a time. The movement of a painters hand can be recorded and then transmitted repeatedly to servo motors that drive the brushes that do the actual painting. They can even wipe the brush. Bulbing can also be easily automated. (Well, maybe not that easy. It took some engineering for us to do it in two of the companies I worked.) The Inkjet process can be used to apply colors but there are restrictions as to the amount of color that can be deposit. At least, that is what I last heard. The British Ceramic Research Association (BCRA) has put a lot of effort into this area so there may be advances. The many variations in color formulations, and also in the application processes, can lead to defect generation. Thats what manufacturers dont want. However, once a problem is resolved in a process, it usually doesnt come up again. For example, say that a formulation error in the color causes crawling, faint or off color, running, etc. Correcting the formula eliminates the problem forever (usually). Close control parameters must be adhered to by both the color supplier and the customer. Color meters are not always the complete answer. I preferred to use printed color standards (like you see at the paint store except the chips are much larger and there are a lot more of them.) After instituting this, the design department could just give us the color number which we could match without argument. Most people have eyes that are more color discriminatory than any color meter. Thats the reason why some scientists believe in God. Colors can be purchased in enamel form so that little or no preparation is needed at the factory. Often, the pigments are purchased and then frits and binders are added as needed at the factory. The particle size of the prepared enamel must be controlled as must the specific gravity and the viscosity. A hand painter can adjust for variations in these properties but a machine can not. Note that in continous operations the enamel must be checked often enough as to not let specific gravity and viscosity parameters vary. Drying is the usual process before firing. However, some enamel can be cured much faster by using ultraviolet light. You must purchase the u.v. light-sensitive resins. Infrared lights can dry regular enamel. Burner heat perhaps from radient burners may be required in automated enameling and glazing lines. Enameling on decaled ware requires skilled workers or precise machinery. Errors are easily corrected before firing. The enamel can be removed and you can start over. After firing, forget it! Enamels are usually fired on decal or glazed ware in a 1-3 hour cycle. I didnt mention that stains can be applied to green ware by stamping, bulbing, or hand painting. Well, I’m old and I forgot. John T. Fishing With Your Dog

By A.J. Klott Man’s best friend. Who better to share time with when out on a fishing trip than…. ….Man’s best friend. I don’t know about your dog but any number of the pooches I have had in my lifetime have never had the ability to throw a five weight line let alone handle a level wind reel. Something about the lack of opposable thumbs, has been a real handicap in making our faithful canine companions the perfect fishing partner. Nonetheless, many a fishing trip has been made with either my dog or a bi-ped friends dog along for the experience. For me, dogs have always added to almost any outdoor experience, whether it be hiking, camping, bird hunting, mountain biking,or skiing. Fishing, on the other hand is somewhat a different story. In my mind, I have always dreamed of having that perfect pooch, the one that walks calmly by your side, curls up and takes a nap while you endlessly cast over and over for hours to trout filled waters. A dog that yawns, stretches, wags his tail and comes over to give your catch a sniff and a lick before you release your finny playmate back into his natural habitat. Nice dream. I don’t know about you, but most of the fishing/dog fishing experiences I have had– have not exactly fallen into the Hallmark special dog category. More like a Mel Brooks comedy. My dogs have usually been somewhat overexuberent in their fishing adventures, doing happy things like: 1)Running at breakneck speed and leaping into a fshing hole–especially one that you have belly crawled or “stealthily” snuck up on so as to not spook the fish– and then swam around in it, thanking you for finding such a wonderful place to cool down from racing up and down the banks. Most dogs I have had really love the water, in fact, I used to have a Husky that would swim halfway out into the river, pretty much scaring away any fish in a three county area. 2)Eating dead fish carcasses, which invariably lands your dog at the vets office, where six hundred dollars later, “mans best friend” does not so much as offer one thin dime or learn a small trick that might land you a spot on Letterman, so you can recoup some of your costs. 3) Rolling in dead things–or worse! Nothing like having your dog find something good and rank, up to and including animal excrement, giving a good roll in it, and then coming to snuggle up with you while you try to cast. 4) The old tangle up the line trick. Sure, most of the time you can’t get your dog calm enough to sit by your side, but want him to give you some room to cast a fly line, and he will walk on, over and through your line until he has some sort of Chinese string puzzle created, that only a nine year old girl can undo. Better yet, he will “sniff” around right in your backcasting zone until you eventually land a #6 Green Butted Skunk deep within his fur. 5) Speaking of Skunks. Nothing like the eye jarring, nose alarming smell of a two in the morning skunk rendezvous. Your faithful friend is mighty proud that he has saved the fish camp from the nightime intruder. This is especially enjoyable when you yell at the top of your lungs for him to get back in the tent–and then yell at the top of your lungs for him to get BACK OUT of the tent. This has happened to at least four different dogs, and has left my camping rig and gear smelling like skunk for months. We have even given the old “tomato juice” baths right on the bank of the river before, which only makes the dog smell like a skunk pizza. Not to mention, the bath scene which resembles some sort of sickening bloodletting ritual–which induces calls to 911 from nearby campers. The dog also usually likes this new man/dog bonding ritual and of course wags his tail profusely while self indulging himself in a virgin Bloody Mary, thereby splattering you with most of the tomato juice. 6) Fish wrestling. For the most part, your dog can care less about your fishing experience, usually wandering about looking for any of the aforementioned fun things to do. On the off chance you can concentrate long enough to actually catch and land a fish, and suddenly he is on top of your fish licking, tooth tagging, and generally treating your catch like a s”squeaky toy”. If the fish is lucky enough to make it back into the water, he is sure to swear off eating worms for the rest of his days. 7) Dog flatulence. Do I really need to say anything else?? These are just a few of the many pleasures of fishing with your dog, and I am sure you have some interesting stories yourself. Man’s best friend? You bet. There is still nothing better than the companionship of our cold nosed, cow patty breathed, furry friends. And any good fishing tale I have ever heard has been enhanced by the presence of the TAIL of man’s best friend. Happy Tails To You…. A.J. Fishing For Smallmouth Bass

By Alan King When fishing for smallmouth bass, it is important to remember that these fish love deep, clear waters and a moderately swift current. They stay away from the fastest parts of rivers and streams, where the trout might prefer to swim, but would rather swim in pools with noticeable current than those which are stagnant. Smallmouth bass love structures and obstacles in the water, such as piers, bridge supports, tree trunks, rock beds and boulders. Unlike largemouths, smallmouth bass dont like to stay in heavy weeds. The mainstays of the smallmouth bass diet are crayfish and insects, but they will eat small fish when they can get them. The biggest smallmouth bass on record was almost twelve pounds. Most state record smallmouths are seven to nine pounds. Smallmouth bass are a very popular game fish. In addition to widespread wild populations, these fish are stocked in cool rivers and in lakes throughout North America. Smallmouth bass fight fiercely near the top of the water when hooked and are widely regarded for this behavior. Spinners, crankbaits, and imitation worms, grubs, and crayfish make excellent bait. These types of bait are most popular with anglers using baitcasting rods. Smallmouth bass can also be taken on a fly rod using dry or wet flies, nymphs, and streamers. Most fishermen angling for smallmouth bass use a 5.5-6.5 foot rods with a 6-8 pound line. Since smallmouth bass tend to feed at greater depths, sinkers may be employed to bring the bait low enough for the fish to reach. Smallmouth bass may be caught for the table, or, as is common among sport anglers, caught and released to improve the stock. Smallmouth bass are susceptible to oxygen depletion when kept out of running water for any length of time, so it is important to be careful with these fish if you plan to re-release them. After large fishing tournaments, many smallmouth bass die shortly after release because of being stored in small compartments with inadequately aerated water. Smallmouth bass can be caught from shore, or by fishing from a boat. In the case of casting from shore, be certain to cast into deep waters, or you will miss the bass. Once you have caught one bass, you are likely to catch another, as these are schooling fish. The best type of bait to catch smallmouth bass changes, depending on time of day. Crankbait might work best in the morning, plastic representations of insects and crayfish in the afternoon. It is important to try many different baits to try to catch your smallmouth, as these fishes moods change by the hour. Time and practice will help you land your smallmouth.
